Circus of Light in Lisbon The “Circus of Light”, designed by Nuno Maya and Carole Purnelle, is a cultural experience the likes of which Portugal has never seen before. Following in the footsteps of this success, we are now being offered a completely new visual and sensory universe, bursting with colour
and joy. Using the main façade of Terreiro do Paço as its tent, a 125 metre long virtual circus will be lighting up the capital this Christmas. Through video mapping and 2D and 3D animation, this magnificent spectacle of light, with its monumental projections adapted to architectural form, explores the enduring, burlesque and festive world of circus art, bathing the audience in an unmissable circus performance presented by fantastical characters! Animated figures are mixed with the animation to create dramatic effects in each of the various circus numbers performed. Real actors give voice to the animated characters, sparking smiles, triggering amazement and warming your heart, whatever your age! Blending the real with the virtual, animation with actors and music with sound effects, the “Circus of Light” is a free show that also offers an original musical score written by the group Deolinda and the participation of the remarkable Nuno Markl. This is definitely going to be the brightest show of the Christmas season!
