Stresa Festival 2014 in Italy More than twenty events ranging from jazz to classical music on Lake Maggiore. During independent european tour to Italy or escorted group tours to Europe with visit to Italy we recommend visit to lake Maggiore and participate Stresa Festival. The Stresa Festival is back once again this year; the event that has been bringing classical music to the beautiful setting of Lake Maggiore every summer since 1961. The program of this 53rd edition provides an exceptional jazz preview, with the "Midsummer Jazz Concerts 2014", an event within the event. The mini festival of jazz by the lake, which was created three years ago, proposes masters of improvisation and authors of great charisma such as the guitarist John Scofield and, representing Italy, the eclectic pianist Stefano Bollani, from 24th to 27th July. The Music Weeks of Stresa and Lake Maggiore are a traditional appointment with exclusive concerts which have ensured Stresa has become one of the most famous music festivals in the world. Eighteen events will take place from August 19th to September 6th: a Suite for solo cello by Bach, arias from Rossini's William Tell, a Concert in D for Strings by Stravinsky, symphonies by Brahms and Tchaikovsky will enrich a playbill which will interact with music and other forms of entertainment such as movies and the theatre. This year, the 450th anniversary of William Shakespeare’s birth, on August 27th, "Mind the gap, Lady Shakespeare!" will be staged; a representation inspired by the best-known female characters created by the British playwright. On the 22nd it will be the turn of the Teatro Regio’s Orchestra and Chorus from Turin to celebrate the 1000th concert of Stresa Music Weeks. This is an anniversary that consecrates Lake Maggiore and the surrounding area as a must for all music lovers around the world.
