Temple Bar TradFest are delighted to announce Carlos Núñez will be performing in the stunning surrounds of St. Patrick’s Cathedral. Carlos Núñez is one of Galicia’s most revered artists. He’s the undisputed master of Galicia’s signature musical instrument, the gaita, or Galician bagpipes. He is also enormously popular across the rest of Spain and throughout Europe and Latin America. Worldwide he has sold over a million albums and is well known in the Irish Music scene thanks to his early “adoption” by The Chieftains - he was even dubbed “The Seventh Chieftain”.
Macalla
The First All-Female Big-Band of traditional music are celebrating 30 years in 2014. Originally formed in 1984 to celebrate women’s creativity for International Women’s day over 20 female musicians and singers from all parts of Ireland got together for the occasion. They’re back together for this fantastic concert in St Werburgh’s Church to once again celebrate women’s music, energy, and creativity.
We Banjo 3 and Chessboxer
Galway born quartet We Banjo 3 will return to Temple Bar Tradfest 2014 following a hugely successful tour of Ireland the UK and the US this summer. They will be joined by American duo Chessboxer with fiddler Ross Holmes of Mumford & Sons' band. Combining the best of Irish and Bluegrass banjo music, We Banjo 3, mix modern rhythms with traditional melodies producing effortlessly smooth arrangements and vocals.
The Temple Bar TradFest also features free family events, music & dance workshops, outdoor stages, street markets; pipe bands, ceili, street performances, film screenings, music trail plus much much more..
Throughout the festival artists from Ireland, England, Scotland, Spain and Latvia will perform at some of Dublin’s iconic venues: St. Patrick’s Cathedral, St. Werburgh’s Church, City Hall, St. Michan’s Church and Button Factory.
